Newsletter #20 July 21
Principal's News
Dear St Paul's families,
A very special welcome to this week's newsletter. I would like to begin by saying thank you very much for your support and messages of encouragement as we have been dealing with the current lockdown and covid cases in Mildura. It has certainly been a very difficult time for everyone. I have tried to ensure that you are all kept up to date as soon as possible.
On a more serious note , I need to remind parents that the daily messages posted on SIMON are for St Paul's families only. It is disheartening to see one of the daily messages posted on social media for the general public to see. There are enough rumours circulating around town as it is and this has not helped the situation. I completely understand that school families may wish to alert other family members or friends , however a simple phone call or text message may be a better option. I sincerely hope you can support me in this moving forward.
GRIP LEADERSHIP: Last week I had the privilege of accompanying the senior leaders to the GRIP Leadership Day. It was a fantastic day to see the kids interact with the other schools and learn about leadership and what it means to be a leader. They had a great time participating. We were also able to purchase some excellent leadership resources from which all our children will benefit.
SENIOR GIRLS' SOCCER TEAM:Last Wednesday I received some excellent news regarding our Senior Girls’ Soccer Team. They competed in the interschool regional finals and completely dominated the competition. Well done to Mr McDermott, Bel Jenkins and Mrs Courtney for supporting the girls. They are now on their way to the regional finals in Swan Hill. Good luck!
Also, I recently found out that one of our Senior students, Alexis Pantazopoulos, has made the Sporting Schools Victorian Primary Soccer team. This is an amazing achievement as this is the Victorian squad. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a very successful soccer career. Congratulations Alexis!
MILDURA EISTEDDFOD: The good news keeps on rolling on. As you may be aware the Mildura Eisteddfod this year went online due to the previous lockdown. Under Ms Jess’s guidance we had the Foundation, Middle and Senior units compete in the school choir sections.
The Middle unit children unfortunately did not finish in the top 3 but should be commended for their hard work and commitment. The Foundation Unit received an Honourable Mention for their efforts. The Senior Unit children finished in 2nd Place for their efforts, however, were also awarded the Charlotte M Harvey Memorial Award for their “overall energy and presentation. A choir with excellent focus and wonderful storytelling.”
Congratulations to all our children who represent St Paul’s Primary in the wider community. It makes me so proud to be a part of this school.
Finally, I hope you are all keeping safe during these uncertain times. If you need assistance, please remember we are only a phone call away.
As always
Keep the Faith
