    Welcome Back!

I've said this a few times now but it feels like I have been watching reruns of "Welcome Back Kotter".  Now I am showing my age but honestly it is great to back.  I know that these continued lockdowns have been extremely hard on a lot of families emotionally, mentally, physically and financially.  However, I think that if there is anything good that has come out of this it is the resilience of our children to keep bouncing back and the fact that so many people have been checking in on each other.

Now more than ever it is important that your children are at school everyday. We have been putting in a lot of additional supports across the school for the children in the learning both academically and socially.  Unfortunately there are still restrictions in place that we are required to follow and updates are coming in regularly from Catholic Education Ballarat regarding the changes.

Covid Restrictions Update- the following restrictions will be in place until further notice
    - Parents are not allowed to attend any school based events e.g assemblies, liturgies etc.
    - Parents entering the school building must wear a mask and must sign in via the QR Code signs.
    - Some essential meetings will still be conducted  via video links or onsite as deemed necessary.
    - No interschool Sports

Mildura Eisteddfod Last week I announced some great results from this year's Eisteddfod. I received some more exciting news this week. Congratulations to the following students who competed in the 12 years and under Dante Alighieri Poetry- Recitation in Italian Solo
    1st Place- Eliza Campbell
    2nd Place- Nicola De Maria
Honourable Mention- Lyla Ovenden and Livinia Fitzgerald.
The  Dante Alighieri Speech and Drama Award was also won by Eliza Campbell.

Maths Competition- In early August selected students in Years 3-6 will participate in the AMT Maths competition. If you would like your child to participate, please contact Melissa Sutherland  via email. msutherland@spmildura.catholic.edu.au

St Paul's Mini Olympics- we will be able to hold our own school athletics program.  However, it will be modified due to the new restrictions.  We will provide you with more information as it becomes available. Unfortunately parents will not be able to attend this event at this stage.

St Joseph's Red Cliffs- Last week it was announced that Mrs Naomi Kennedy has been appointed as the principal of St Joseph's, Red Cliffs. Naomi was originally appointed as interim principal for the 2021 school year. She has now been offered a longer term contract and has accepted. We congratulate Naomi on her appointment and wish her every success for the future.

Naidoc Day- our celebrations were postponed due to the lockdown. This Friday classes will be participating in a range of activities originally planned prior to lockdown.   These will be presented in a modified format.

Flying Start Program (Session #1  04/08/21) - We have had to postpone the program due to COVID restrictions.

    Have a great week everyone.

    As always

    Keep the Faith
