Welcome to week 10. The term is certainly flying by. It has been lovely to see the days getting longer and warmer. This week Vince is on Long Service Leave in preparation for his daughter's wedding on Friday. We wish Catilyn and Jake all the best in their future together. We have had a number of other staff enjoying Long Service Leave this week also. Mary-Anne Ghidinelli will also commence Long Service for all of next term. Shaun Emmett has also tended his resignation. He will finish up at the end of term 3. We wish him all the best going forward.
Walk 4 Brain Cancer - On Friday students were involved in Walk 4 Brain Cancer. St Paul's raised just over $370.

Father's Day Mass - Saturday 3rd September 2022
This Saturday 3rd September, we will be celebrating our Father's Day Mass at the Sacred Heart Church at 6pm. It is a time for us to reflect and give thanks for all of our fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, godfathers, uncles and all those who are like a father to us. Our students and staff will be involved in the celebration with readings, processions and singing in the choir.
If your child has volunteered / been asked to assist with a special job, they will have received an individual letter sent home detailing this. If you are unable to attend, it would be greatly appreciated if you could please contact Mrs Blagus mblagus@spmildura.catholic.
We look forward to seeing as many children and their families present at our liturgical celebration, as we celebrate all our special fathers and father-figures.

Father's Day Mass Photos
As a part of our Father's Day Mass, we are collating photographs of our students and staff with their fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, godfathers, uncles and all those who are like a father to us. These photos will be included in our Father's Day reflective video, which will be played at our Mass. If you would like a photograph included in the reflection, we ask that you please email it through to mblagus@spmildura.catholic.
Sacrament of First Communion
Just a friendly reminder for those students in Year's 4 and above, who are going to be celebrating their Sacrament of First Holy Communion, there will be a Parent Information Evening held next Wednesday 7th September at 7pm at the Sacred Heart Church.
All further information regarding the sacrament, along with a registration form, was sent home on Monday. Please return those forms to Carmel, at the Parish Office, by next Tuesday 6th September. They have also been reattached below, if needed.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact the Sacred Heart Parish Office.
Senior Unit News
Last week the Senior students engaged in a MAPPEN unit about Ethics and Emotions. Students created a picture story book with an ethical dilemma. They also presented information about their own identity and a fandom presentation of their choice. Students particularly enjoyed designing and creating their own identity T-Shirt that they were able to display or wear at the Expo. Thank-you to the friends and family who came along on Friday afternoon and shared the childrens’ learning with them.
Coming up this week we have students competing at the Regional Mini Olympics. We wish all these students the best of luck and know that they will represent themselves and the school with pride.
Next week in the Senior Unit is a busy week with interschool sports and Police in schools visits occurring throughout the week.
Students are reminded to bring their Chromebook to school every day with a minimum of 80% charge to allow them to fully participate in all learning tasks.
Finally, a heartfelt thankyou to the amazing Learning Support Officers and Tutor that work in our classrooms and support our students to be their best every day. Narelle Simpson, Meagan Johnson, Bel Jenkins, Kosha Shanahan and Ella McErvale, we appreciate all that you do and are so grateful that you are part of the Senior Unit team.

All the Fun of Mappen Week!

Thank you to everyone who was able to come along to our Junior Unit Liturgy last Friday. It was also wonderful to see so many visitors to our Mappen Expo.
The Junior Teachers would like to thank and acknowledge the hard work of our brilliant Learning Support Officers; Michelle Moyle, Anne-Marie Sapuppo and Louise Frasca. We also extend our thanks to our intervention and tutoring team, Amy Jones, Phyllis Tabacco, Pana Tsanakaliotis and Chloe Henderson. These dedicated educators are always on hand to help the teachers, support the kids, work around interruptions, carry the first aid kits, take photos...the list could go for pages! Thank you.
We are hoping to announce details of the 2022 Junior Unit Camp soon. For now, pencil in Wednesday 2nd November and watch this space...
Foundation Unit News
Welcome to Week 8.
Today there was a lot of excitment at school with our annual Book Week Parade. The children looked amazing in their costumes and had a lot of fun taking part in the Book Week activities. If you would like to see some of the photos from the day please look on our Facebook page.
In Religion the children are still busy making their own Bible. We are learning about the New Testament. The children have listened to stories about Jesus and discussed the messages.
We have begun book 3 of the No Nonsense Phonics Program. The children are learning about digraphs and vowels. We have also been learning a lot about syllables. You could ask your child if they know what a syllable is and ask them to do the actions.
"A Syllable is a word or a part of a word with one vowel sound"
We would like to wish all of the fathers a very happy Father's Day on Sunday. We hope you enjoy your special day.

Teacher Aide Appreciation Week

This week in Australia is Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Learning Support staff for their hard work and dedication. We are so grateful for everything our support staff do for our students, staff, and school community.
At St Paul’s our Learning Support staff assist in a wide range of roles across the school. Our Learning Support Officers (LSO’s) work with students individually, in the classrooms, or in small groups. They work closely with classroom teachers and students across all year levels in implementing relevant individual education programs with a focus on maintaining an inclusive learning environment for all.
Thank you to our Learning Support staff, for your ongoing support of our students and staff throughout the year. It is evident that our LSO’s are passionate about supporting our students overcome barriers that may impact their access and participation in the learning program. You play such a valuable role in supporting the school's teaching and learning program and assisting our students to reach their full potential.
Technology News
Foundation students continued to have fun with their coding unit this week. After reviewing what an instruction is, different ways instructions can be given and why it's important to sequence steps in an instruction correctly, students practiced giving instructions to our Code-n-Go Robot mice.

We are so lucky in Australia to have multiple avenues for reporting online issues and seeking help when needed. The eSafety Commissioner's website has an easy-to-find "Report Abuse" button in the top right-hand corner. Here, you can find reliable and trustworthy information to support you in reporting online harm.
Our advice? Check it out with your children and teenagers, and talk to them about what they can do if they ever need support in following up online harm. https://www.esafety.gov.au

Hands Up Mallee
Due to our Father’s Day breakfast this Friday morning, there will be no Walking Club. We are looking forward to again being able to hold this at school to celebrate our dads and special men in our lives. Hopefully we will see a lot of faces in the Hall from 7.30a.m.
This Friday the MIDDLE UNIT will be able to ride/scoot to school and join me for some fun and games on the basketball court during lunch play.
The sun’s UV rays are starting to climb, so now is a good time to find your child’s school hats, make sure their name is on it and encourage them to start wearing it again. At this stage hats are not compulsory, but we are getting very close to it and it would be great to see the students becoming proactive in regards to wearing hats outdoors.
